LingvoSoft Dictionary 2008 is a modular application to solve all your needs related to translation tasks and language learning. This modular application is designed to run on Windows based computers, but if you are a Linux or Macintosh user have in mind that you could use LingvoSoft Dictionary 2008 by installing a Windows emulator on your system. We say that this is a modular solution because you can acquire it as a whole, containing all languages available at LingvoSoft database, or by modules, containing two languages you specially need. That way, you can assemble the application you need by purchasing only the appropriate modules. For example, if you are an English speaker and want to learn Spanish and French, you will buy the modules containing those languages only. In this case, we are presenting LingvoSoft Talking Dictionary 2008 English <<0>> Persian (Farsi) for Windows, so with this module, as obvious as it sounds, you will be able to translate words from English to Persian and vice versa, and learn one of the two languages knowing the other one. Once installed on your desktop or laptop PC this dictionary works as a resident application with an icon located at your system tray. This ensures quick access to translation by clicking on the icon.
What makes this tool very different from others alike is the fact that this is a talking dictionary, so you not only get the writing and meaning of a word but its correct pronunciation as well. This is an essential tool when you want to learn to speak a language instead of just reading or writing it. LingvoSoft Dictionary 2008 for Windows is fully integrated with LingvoSoft FlashCards and LingvoSoft PhraseBook, other language resources and tools developed by the same producer. You can easily select and export words from the dictionary to the FlashCards database or find phrases with the word in PhraseBook.
If you are interested in this translation and language tool but still have second thoughts, you can download the trial version to use it for a while and discover it completely. This trial version doesn’t have a time limitation. Instead of that, it limits the database usage to the 10% of it for unregistered users. This is enough to get to know the application but it’s kind of little for real work and learning. Once you have tried the software you can purchase online on the developer’s homepage, and you can access this Internet site from the registration window that appears each time you run the software in its trial version. LingvoSoft Talking Dictionary requires that the languages of the dictionary be installed on your computer. If their not, you should install them before installing LingvoSoft Talking Dictionary to avoid errors. Anyways, before buying this software take a moment to check the following system requirements list out and compare it with your system:
• Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista
• 16 MB of free space on the hard disk
• at least 64 MB of system memory
• sound card
The program is designed as a single window application, giving it an air of simplicity for the users. This single window displays a toolbar at the top, the Basic Function Toolbar, from which the users can quickly access the functions usually needed. Right below this toolbar is the Input Line, the text box where you have to type in the word you are interested in, either for translation or pronunciation.
The program includes a complete help file where you can read all the details to get the most out of this tool. Probably you won’t need it since the application is very easy to use with a very intuitive interface.
As mentioned before, this product is available to be purchased on the developer’s site on Internet for only $ 49.95, and you can try it before all the time you need but with the database limitation.
